Friend Friendship

Friend Friendship

Some relationships are made by spiritual power, God, and some by people. But some people, without any formal relation, maintain a bond that is perhaps best called ‘friendship.’

It is said that friendship is the greatest relationship among all. A friend is someone who, in difficult times, says, ‘You are not alone, we will face this together.’ A friend is someone who stands by you when everyone else is against you. A friend is who understands you and your feelings. A friend is someone who does not speak ill of you behind your back and does not listen to others doing so. A friend is someone who, if you do something wrong, will scold you but will also stand up against anyone else who wrongs you. A friend takes your life, happiness, and sorrow as their own. There are no personal matters between friends. They never say, ‘I did this or that for you’ or ‘I was there for you at that time,’ nor do they expect anything in return.

You may encounter many people who claim to be friends, but if your relationship with them does not match the one described here, they are not your friends but merely acquaintances. You know them, but you do not share a true friendship. Recognize the difference between friendship and acquaintance. Those who do not understand this difference often get hurt in the name of friendship and feel distressed in their hearts. True friendship never betrays, and what betrays is never true friendship.
